Why do you need a criminal defense strategy?

You knew you were in deep trouble when the police pulled up to your house. They'd tracked you down after an offense, and now you're being accused of charges that you feel are unfair and blown out of proportion.

It's very important for someone in your position to reach out for legal support so that you can build a defense and protect yourself. It's easy for charges to build up against someone after they're accused of a crime, and you want to make sure that you only face fair charges.

There are many different types of defenses that you may be able to use in your case. Creating a criminal defense strategy is your attorney's job, but they will listen to what you have to stay and work with you to build a strong strategy that you agree with. You might want to:

  • Admit guilt through a confession
  • Admit and explain your actions
  • Completely deny what happened
  • Take another stance completely.

As part of the criminal defense process, your attorney will speak with witnesses, potential alibis and others who can speak positively on your behalf. They will also work with you to determine the sequence of events that led to an offense.

Perhaps most importantly, your attorney has the potential to seek a plea deal on your behalf. That plea deal may reduce the penalties you face, which helps you avoid the varied sentencing that a trial could result in.

If you have been accused of a crime, there are many reasons to work with an attorney. Protecting yourself is the goal.
