False accusations of abuse are serious: Fight back

On Behalf of | May 28, 2020 | Criminal Defense |

You went out on an amazing date with someone with whom you really enjoyed spending time. Afterward, you sent them a text to thank them for a lovely evening. They responded that they also had a great time, and you went to bed.

The next day, you were woken up by a knock at the door. An officer was there telling you that you’d been accused of assaulting the person you were with last night. It’s a shock, because you were both in public, and you didn’t touch them at all.

You tried to show the officer the message stating that the other person had a nice time last night, but they wanted to take you to the station. You went in, and it wasn’t long before you realized that you could be in real trouble.

If you’re facing accusations of assault or domestic violence, what should you do?

It is in your best interests to reach out to a criminal defense attorney as soon as you can. Your attorney can help you minimize the impact of these accusations. Your attorney will want to gather as much evidence as possible to show that you didn’t harm the other person and that you’ve been falsely accused. One thing that you must not do is to attempt to contact the person making these allegations, as that can only make it worse for you.
