A 42-year-old man is facing several charges after allegedly threatening harm to his female companion. The Wisconsin resident was charged with making terrorist threats, two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon, felony possession of THC and also having drug paraphernalia. A police report indicated alleged witness accounts of the man abusing the woman he was with at the time.

The woman apparently told police the accused threatened her with physical harm if she called the authorities. Police allegedly found two firearms in the man’s home. He cannot own firearms due to a past felony conviction in 2017. While doing a search of the house, authorities say they also found cannabis and a pipe used for smoking cannabis.

The accused is being held in jail pending a $5,000 cash bond. It would be wise for him to confer with a lawyer since these charges are serious. Penalties for conviction can be harsh. He could lose his driver’s license, be ordered to pay stiff fines and spend time behind bars. There are ways to fight these charges including challenging the police search, so someone who knows the law should be part of the accused’s defense team.

It is vital that Wisconsin residents facing drug charges do all that they can to protect their rights. They must be willing to fight the charges aggressively. Getting guidance and advice from an experienced criminal defense attorney to embark on that fight may be in the best interests of those accused of serious criminal offenses.
